Sacramento, CA – August 15, 2013. Call2Recycle® was one of four California companies honored by the California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) during the organization’s 4th Annual Arrow Awards ceremony held in Pasadena’s Langham Huntington Hotel this week at the California Resource Recovery Association’s 37th annual conference. Call2Recycle is the recipient of the 2013 Golden Arrow Award for Overall Excellence in Product Stewardship.
Call2Recycle is North America’s first and largest battery stewardship program. Since 1996, Call2Recycle has diverted over 75 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from the solid waste stream and established a network of 30,000 public collection sites across the U.S. and Canada. In California alone, Call2Recycle has recycled nearly seven million pounds of rechargeable batteries from over 2,800 statewide drop-off sites. Call2Recycle is a non-profit organization funded by industry stewards – battery and product manufacturers across the globe committed to environmentally-sound recycling of batteries and cellphones. “Receiving this prestigious award from CPSC reaffirms our industry stewards’ and program participants’ commitment to responsible battery recycling,” said Carl Smith, CEO and President of Call2Recycle. “Our program success is not only measured by the pounds that we collect, but is clear evidence of the positive impact product stewardship programs can have, both locally and nationally.”
